A Restful Day-Day 29

As a result of a long day yesterday at Yosemite National Park, today was designated as a rest day.  The trip, believe it or not, is one day shy of being half over, but don't fret there is still a lot more for me to see and do.  It was another rainless day with temperatures hovering between 75F and 97F.  Yes one heard me right, 97F!  The gasoline purchased today was over the double mendoza line however, at $4.05/gallon, Yuch!  The reason I purchased this gasoline was to return the Cruze for 7500 miles servicing.  Since Fresno Yosemite Airport had no service people, the car was exchanged for a Toyota Corolla, the only vehicle available.  Since the Cruze had to be exchanged, I thought it was time to update everyone on the mileage and to also update the state count.  The mileage on the returned Chevrolet Cruze totaled 7590.1 miles.  Of this total mileage, 5751.8 miles was used for the 20 days to head westward to LaConner, Washington.  This equates to a daily average of 288 miles a day for the trip out West.  The remaining 1838.3 miles is the mileage I consider for the return trip eastward.  I will update the return trip mileage calculations at a later day.  The Cruze log also identified that 260.4 total gallons of gasoline have been used so far.  This equates to 32.3 miles/gallon.  Where is the Prius?  The Corolla is on the clock now.  The state count has reached fifteen (15) which include: New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and California.
The plan tomorrow is head for the shoreline and Route 1, enjoy the beauty of the coast, and to visit a castle.
A well rested traveler now.
