This picture taken of Lake Shasta from Route 5 about 10 miles North of Redding, California. Also called Lake Shasta, Shasta Lake is an artificial lake which was formed in 1948 as a result of the construction of Shasta Dam across the Sacramento River between the years 1935-1945. The mountainside is covered with tall evergreens and manzanita trees. Manzanitas are evergreen shrubs or small trees that have orange or red bark with twisted branches. There are so many picture opportunities on these trips.
